The nylon crown portion of this mule halter make it stronger then being all leather.  The lead can be used for a side pull allowing your pack animal to tilt its head in order to see where he is stepping,  a center pull which when pulled back the animal is unable to see directly in front  which could discourage him from walking forward.  Both the side pull, and the center pull can be used to tighten the nose band.  It also has a no pull attachment which doesn't tighten the nose band.
